DOMAIN NAME REGISTRATION

Assuming you're serious about making money online in the Internet Marketing niche, the first thing to do is to get your own space on the internet - preferably a WordPress Blog. Consider which domain name to use - I would recommend using your own name i.e. "yourname(dot)com".
Every successful Internet Marketer that I know of has his own blog, plus you will need a site to host your free gifts for the giveaway so it's a no brainer isn't it?

We won't discuss building your blog or web-site in this article but what I would say is use Namecheap to register the domain URL and Hostgator as its host. There are, of course, other companies, such as Godaddy, Bluehost & D9 to name but a few.

Namecheap costs around $9.69 per domain, per year and is just about the cheapest there is. Plus you can easily find a discount voucher of $0.88 if you know where to look...
"88 cents? Big deal!"

Not the biggest discount but it equates to just under 10%, which is not to be sniffed at.
Just Google "Namecheap coupon (followed by whatever month it is) 2010" and you will find the discount voucher. Currently the voucher code is MOTHERSLOVE which will expire by the end of May 2010.

HOSTING YOUR DOMAIN

I use Hostgator and have absolutely no complaints with their service. I signed up with their "Baby Croc" package, which costs around $90 for the year, which allows for the hosting of unlimited domains for the year.

Hostgator are quite simply the industry leader when it comes to domain hosting and their customer service is second to none. I have used their live one-on-one chat facility on 3 occasions now and have been completely satisfied on each occasion.

Look out for discount codes using Mother Google, as they are almost always available. Try "topwebhost" if you're reading this before June 2010.
Again, there are numerous hosting companies on the internet so the decision is yours.

UPDATE THE DOMAIN NAME SERVERS

"You're getting technical now Cliff!"
Namecheap have their own domain name servers (DNS) which need to be changed over to those supplied by Hostgator. Ignore this advice if you intend to use the same company for both registering and hosting your domain.

This isn't as technical as it sounds and you can find your way to Hostgator's tutorial video on their extensive help section.

AUTORESPONDER

You're getting close now to starting to build your very own list of subscribers. An autoresponder is a vital resource for you to manage the details of your list.
In my opinion you should use Aweber to manage this vital piece of the jigsaw. They are the industry leader and their web-site has a lot of useful resources.

A subscription to Aweber will set you back $1 for the first month, followed by about $16 per month.

GIVEAWAY PRODUCT

You're nearly there now, just need a product or products to offer as gifts in order for you to commence your listbuilding experience.

Assuming you don't have your own product, there are tons of inexpensive and free eBooks out there which you could use. Look out for ebooks with Master Resale Rights (MRR - products for you to do with as you please EXCEPT alter) and Private Label Rights (PLR - Yours to do with as you please).
Make sure that the product that you choose is of a reasonable standard. As there is a lot of rubbish flying around!

SQUEEZE & DOWNLOAD PAGE CREATION

This isn't as difficult as it sounds. You're going to need to use an html editor and an FTP (file transfer protocol) program. A couple of free software programs you could use for this are NVU and Filezilla, although have a look around and decide for yourself. Seek out Paul Hooper's brilliant free tutorial video on this subject. Paul is a former student of Alex Jeffreys.

So there you have it... your step-by-step guide to setting up as a contributor to a giveaway event.
Take your time, get it going, and most of all have FUN!
